I’ve written previously about how much I
love the Designer Brands products and after hearing from numerous people about
how obsessed they are with the new foundation, I knew I had to give it a try. I
first heard of it when a girl I work with came in with her makeup totally on
point. Her base looked amazing and I was actually a bit taken a back when she
said that it was the newest Designer Brands foundation. Then I started seeing
beauty vloggers rave about it, so when I had to fill a prescription at my local
ChemMart pharmacy I decided to pick one up and give it a go.
The shade
selection is very small, with only four are available and I chose the lightest
shade Classic Ivory. The packaging is quite nice
and is obviously modeled off the Dior Forever Flawless foundation, as it is
pretty much identical with the frosted glass and black cap. Though I have heard
they have tried to model the actual formula off the Estee Lauder Double Wear
which I was a massive fan of, so this made me even more excited to try it and
compare to a product I know quite well.
I applied this as soon as I got home and it
went on really well. The formula is a lot thinner than Double Wear and I liked
that it was easy to blend compared to the Estee Lauder formula that you have to
work quite quick with because it sets in a heartbeat. The colour match for me
was really good though it was a pinch too dark, but only slightly, and once blended
down my neck you couldn’t tell the difference. I wanted to see how full the
coverage was so I didn’t apply any colour correcting concealer underneath. I
was blown away as it covered up all redness and left over acne pigmentation
with just one application. Once all applied I was really happy with
the result. It didn’t look cakey and sat nicely on the skin without settling
into pores and fine lines. Unlike the Estee Lauder Double Wear and other full
coverage foundations, this didn’t feel at all heavy on the face which I really
liked.
Next up was to test the Longwear claim of
this. I applied it at 9am and came home at 3pm and it still looked pretty
amazing, BUT I did have some oiliness in my T-Zone. But that was pretty good
considering I had not set it with any powder and I do have quite oily skin. With the claims that the brand makes I do
agree with all of them but one and that is that it is smudge proof. I made a
phone call half way through the day and once I hung up I had quite a lot of
foundation on my phone. My other problem with it was the oxidisation which kicked in after about 8 hours of wear. But with the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation after the first thirty minutes I had worse problems with oxidisation, so this wasn't that bad as it only turned slighty orange.
It contains Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Peptide, Aloe Vera Extract
and also SPF 15 to help with sun protection. It is also free from nasties like talc, parabens and bismuth. Like other Designer Brands
products it is cruelty free and also vegan. Oh and did I mention the price?
$12.99. Which is amazing considering the quality of this product as it is
bloody brilliant and stands up against some of the higher priced foundations
out there. If
you can find a shade to match your skin I would highly recommend giving this
one a go if you love fuller coverage foundations that feels nice and light on
the skin. As a $13 foundation it goes above and beyond.
