The Parcel by Girlfriend Magazine and Home and Away

It has been a LONG time since I’ve read Girlfriend magazine or watched Home and Away. Ten years to be exact, when I was around thirteen going on fourteen years old. But when I was subscribing to the very excellent The Parcel by Marie Claire I thought I’d give this one a try and it would be just as wonderful and full of value. This was an alright beauty box but not up to scratch with the wonderful history and quality brands of The Parcel.

Rubi Bronzer
When I first opened the parcel it was absolutely covered in a pretty shimmery powder. All the products in the box had a nice beachy bronze glow to them, as did my kitchen counter tops and hands. The Rubi bronzer was at the bottom packaged in the little box. I knew as soon as I opened that box it would be a bronzer explosion good enough to rival pub nightclubs in the South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. And it was. When I opened the compact the beautiful big bronzer was in crumbles. I was so disappointed because while I was removing it from my kitchen and myself I noticed that the formula was quite soft and silky. I contacted the guys at The Parcel to see about getting a replacement but they told me they couldn’t replace the bronzer itself but instead could send me out a nail polish from the same brand in return for this photo evidence of the remains:

A quick scroll on Instagram revealed that everyone else who received this box also got a confetti style sprinkling of bronzer over everything in a 5km radius.   Full Size

BYS Illuminator
This is a really beautiful lightweight liquid illuminator that blends incredibly easily. It's really golden and I think is meant for complexions a bit darker than mine so I will pass this on to a tan friend. But a bit of digging online revealed that BYS make this illuminator in three shades, including a pearl colour that would be perfect for pale skin. BYS is also a cruelty free brand so if you are after a nice illuminator to goddess up your face for a small cost this could be the one. Full Size and cruelty free

Dermalogica Breakout Clearing Foaming Wash
This cleanser is for acne prone skin and helps to clear it up by using botanicals like tea tree. Dermalogica and I haven’t got the greatest history as the last time I used their products on my face I broke out in very painful cystic acne that took months to clear up. But a couple of weeks ago I received a Dermalogica facial at Endota Spa and my face didn't break out at all. Also a quick Google search of this cleanser brings up some pretty fantastic reviews. I haven't got many blemishes at the moment so it will be interesting to see how my skin reacts to it. Deluxe Sample

MOR Little Luxuries Hand Cream in Belladonna
I'm obsessed with the packaging of this hand cream; it is so luxe, gorgeous and glamorous. The product itself is really soft and hydrating on the hands while also absorbing like a gem without leaving behind any residue. Like reading Girlfriend magazine I used to use MOR products all the time when I was 13 and the brand was still quite new. I used to find it stocked in a little boutique on the Mornington Peninsula when my family and I would go up there for breakfast on weekends. The smell also reminds me of the incense I used to burn in my room when I was 13. So basically this hand cream is giving me major 2004 flashbacks but in a good way in that I’ve rediscovered a brand I used to love and have a lot of great memories attached to. Full Size and cruelty free

Miss Moxie Tampons
Tampons are one of those product inclusions that don't really excite me but I’m always glad to receive, because like shampoo or makeup remover wipes you can't really go wrong and they will get used eventually. I mean periods suck but these come in a cute heart shaped tin that is super handbag friendly so that's a bonus right?. Full Size

Designer Brands Quick Colour Nail Polish in Watermelon Gold
This polish is a bright orangey red with streaks of gold through it. A very pretty colour that is meant to dry in 30 seconds when applied. Designer Brands is a wallet friendly, cruelty free and vegan range and I’ve been meaning to try more of their products. All the Designer Brands products I’ve received in previous beauty boxes have been really high quality and the fact that its animal friendly and super accessible makes it really appealing. Full Size, cruelty free and vegan

Revo Lip Balm in Cherry
This went straight in the bin because the smell was just repulsive to me. Cherry isn't my favourite smell in the world to me purely because when I was younger I had epilepsy and the medicine I had to take smelt like cherries. Besides from reminding me of seizures, cherry scented products smell really artificial and cough syrup like. I just can't get on board. This lip balm smelt like all my cherry related nightmares x1000. It was so strong that as soon as I smelt it I just threw it straight in the bin without even trying the formula. Full Size
